Protection against pathogens, pollen and dust.

Colloidal silver is active against pathogenic microorganisms in three ways: silver ions react by binding to the lipoprotein layer of the pathogen’s cell wall. They can also react with enzymes, blocking their function and disabling the pathogen’s functioning. Silver nanoparticles penetrate the pathogen’s cell membrane, and the cell, recognizing them as food, lets them inside. Acting like the “Trojan horse”, once inside the cell, they bind to metabolic enzymes or the DNA and completely destroy the pathogen’s cell from within. Through oxidative processes, silver in contact with oxygen and water produces the so-called reactive oxygen species (ROS). They are highly reactive radicals reacting with the pathogenic cell wall, instantly destroying it, simultaneously killing the microorganism.

Zeolite clinoptilolite underpins the immune system’s ability to counter infections and promotes the reduction of free radical levels. It is highly antimicrobial as it binds bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, etc. Zeolite integrated into Silver Mask’s fabric is capable of reducing the level of inhaled PM10 particles. Zeolite clinoptilolite undergoes unique tribomechanical micronization and activation, and the addition of silver ions and silver nanoparticles boosts the antimicrobial properties.

In-vitro scientific research conducted in 2003 at the University of North Texas proved the effect of colloidal silver on pathogens:

• Staphylococcus– a population of app. 10 million was destroyed after only 4 minutes of exposure to colloidal silver with a 15 ppm concentration.
• Salmonella– a population of app. 10 million was destroyed after 7 minutes of exposure to colloidal silver with a 15 ppm concentration.
• Candida– a population of more than one billion was destroyed after only 2 minutes of exposure to colloidal silver with a 15 ppm concentration.
• Pseudomonas– a population of app. 13 million was destroyed after 10 minutes of exposure to colloidal silver with a 15 ppm concentration.

Similar findings were confirmed in a study conducted in 1999 at the Microbiology Department of Brigham Young University, Utah, USA:

• Staphylococcus aureus(causing pneumonia, eye infection, sepsis, post-surgical infections, wounds, meningitis, osteomyelitis, etc.) was inhibited with a 2.5 ppm concentrated solution, and killed with a 5 ppm concentrated solution.
• Shigella Boydii(causing dysentery) was inhibited with a 1.25 ppm solution, and killed with a 2.5 ppm solution.
• Salmonella arizonae(causing food poisoning) was inhibited with a 2.5 ppm solution, and killed with a 5 ppm solution.
• Escherichia coli(causing food poisoning, urinary tract infections, diarrhoea in children, respiratory tract infections and wound infections) was killed with a 2.5 ppm concentration.
• Pseudomonas aeruginosa(causing burn and wound infections, keratitis, pneumonia, meningitis, urinary tract infections) was inhibited with a 2.5 ppm concentration, and killed with a 5 ppm concentration.
• Streptococcus pneumoniaecausing pneumonia, meningitis, sinusitis, ear inflammation) was inhibited with a 5 ppm concentration.
• Streptococcus mutans(the major cause of dental plaque, gum inflammation and tooth decay) was killed with a 5 ppm concentration, etc.
